Recently, Ubisoft's Montpellier studio announced new job openings on LinkedIn. It appears that the studio is currently seeking talent for a new project in the classic platformer series, "Rayman."

Speculation is currently swirling regarding the future of the beloved Rayman franchise. While fans are eagerly awaiting news, it remains uncertain if the ongoing project represents an entirely brand-new installment in the series or a faithful remake of a cherished older title.

Previous reports, circulating within the gaming community, have hinted at the latter possibility. These reports specifically indicated that development is underway on a Rayman remake under the internal codenameProject Steambot“. What makes this project particularly noteworthy is the talent involved. It is understood that this undertaking includes former members from the talented team that recently delivered the critically acclaimed Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

This collaborative effort is reportedly being handled by two of Ubisoft’s key studios: Ubisoft Montpellier, historically tied to the Rayman series’ origins, and Ubisoft Milan, known for their work on successful recent titles. Adding further intrigue, Michel Ancel, the original creator of the iconic Rayman universe, is said to be involved with the project in a consultant capacity, lending his vision and expertise.

The involvement of experienced developers from the Prince of Persia team and the creator himself suggests a project aiming for quality and respect for the franchise’s legacy. The gaming world watches keenly, hopeful for the return of the limbless hero in what promises to be a significant release, whether a new adventure or a revitalized classic.

It is noteworthy that the latest game in the "Rayman" series, "Rayman: Legends," was released on August 30, 2013. This indicates that there hasn't been a new release in this franchise for 12 years.
